Meditation and visualization are very important parts of
mental and spiritual fitness because they help to moderate the mind and the
spirit. By quieting the mind you can increase
your attention span and self awareness. Increasing self-awareness will lead you
to not only understand your true meaning; it will also help you understand the
best route to take in all your endeavors. Visualization brings the mind and
body together to accomplish your goals. This is a common practice among athletes.
They often visualize themselves doing the activity before they ever attempt the
action. It is my belief that these skills become more and more absent with each
generation. There are far too many people that want that instant gratification
instead of appreciating patience and the time it takes to perfect this skill.
I like your comments that you made about meditation and visualization. I tend to visualize me doing activities that I really want to do but deep down I just think I can't do it and therefore either give up or never try. So I love the concept of visualization and plan on using it more to help me reach my goals.

Hello Kelly ~
ReplyDeleteI am on the same page as you, in that I find meditation and visualization to be the two most useful techniques. I agree that these skills are not being utilized as much with each passing generation. I hope that with CAMs becoming a more accepted way of thinking, healing, and treating diseases in Western cultures, that will may start to see a change in the everyday use of meditation, Yoga, relaxation techniques, and visualization. I just think that they could be beneficial alternative approaches to so many ailments and conditions that we treat today with medications.
