Meditation and visualization are very important parts of
mental and spiritual fitness because they help to moderate the mind and the
spirit. By quieting the mind you can increase
your attention span and self awareness. Increasing self-awareness will lead you
to not only understand your true meaning; it will also help you understand the
best route to take in all your endeavors. Visualization brings the mind and
body together to accomplish your goals. This is a common practice among athletes.
They often visualize themselves doing the activity before they ever attempt the
action. It is my belief that these skills become more and more absent with each
generation. There are far too many people that want that instant gratification
instead of appreciating patience and the time it takes to perfect this skill.

Meeting Aesclepius
This week
I have increased my meditative practices by waking up early in the morning and
meditating. I found that the Meeting
Aesclepius mp3 works extremely well in the mornings compared to the afternoons
or evenings. In addition I have also started to include
leisure bike riding which appears to work perfectly in the afternoons and
evenings. I admit that I have found a
mix of meditative exercises (Aesclepius and bike riding) that are a definite
plus in increasing my psychological and spiritual wellness. As an aspiring fitness professional I have a
moral obligation to practice what I preach.
I am definitely a person that believes you cannot lead someone to water
that you haven’t drunk yourself.

Getting back on Track
On Friday I tried the activity in chapter eleven and I have
to say I was very surprised to find out what I thought my worldly portion of my
map needed the most work. I have been struggling with the fitness ministry
lately. I thought it was that I did not have enough time but I have actually
fallen with my efforts because of the absence of the participants. After
performing the exercise I realize I need to get back being creative. This will
allow me to achieve fulfillment and a sense of service for the community. I definitely
felt good when I started and I had lots of different routines for everyone.

Loving Kindness
Here is some valuable information for anyone wanting to achieve optimal health:
The Loving Kindness exercise: When practicing the loving kindness exercise, I found it very easy when I had to focus on someone I loved very much. Initially it was difficult to think of someone I had a disagreement with with kind thoughts. After several days of practice I began to empathize with that person and I started to feel better about the situation.
At this point I would like to introduce you to the concept of the mental workout. A mental workout is an exercise in simplicity and quieting the mind. It is an exercise in focus and getting away from all of the random thoughts we all have. Research indicates that one of the proven benefits of a mental workout is the ability of the body to heal itself both mentally and physically. This has been proven in studies. The best time to implement a mental workout for me is first thing in the morning and once at night. The morning workout puts me in the right frame of mind to deal with any situation. The evening workout helps me to prepare my body to rest. What time of day would you implement a mental workout?
